About Me

My HVAC Hobby

Hello, my name is Nigel and I live in New South Wales with my partner and our three kids. I am really interested in HVAC systems. It isn't my job or anything, I just got interested in it. My friends often poke fun at me because of my unusual hobby but I don't mind. It all started when I visited my friend who is an HVAC contractor. He was working on a unit and he started to explain how the different components worked together. I was fascinated and when I got home, I took the cover off my HVAC system and cleaned it out. Since then, I have started to maintain and repair HVAC systems for friends if they can't get hold of a professional. I decided to start this blog to help others.

Residential Air Conditioning: Four Fundamental Tips for Proper Installation

Installing a new air conditioner in your home will improve your indoor climate control and promote personal comfort. However, if the unit is not set up correctly, some problems might arise. For instance, the appliance might not function efficiently. Also, there will be a risk of premature breakdown due to improper working of the internal components. Therefore, you must ensure that the AC is installed in the right manner. Here are some core guidelines to help you during the project.

Acquire the Right Unit

It is important to purchase the right air conditioner for your home. This consideration is crucial because proper installation will not matter if the unit is not compatible with your space. In simple terms, if the AC is not correctly sized, it will not function efficiently even if the setup is up to standard. When selecting an appliance, you should think about the size of your house. Make sure that the unit is powerful enough to provide cooling. It should not also be too large because the purchase price and energy costs will be high.

Consider Old Components

When installing your new AC, you should think about the best way to handle your old system. It is always advisable to reuse some of the elements during the setup. This will reduce the total project costs. Moreover, you will avoid unnecessary garbage disposal. One of the critical features that you should plan on preserving is the ductwork. If you are planning on replacing your central air system, consider repairing and reusing the ducting.

Follow the Guidelines

The air conditioner manufacturer provides clear guidelines for installing their appliance. It is important to review the instructions and follow them as outlined. Keep in mind that different units require unique approaches to ensure optimal function after setup. Therefore, you must not make assumptions. In addition to the guide, conduct a little research on the best practices for the placement of the various features of the AC like the thermostat, vents and compressors.

Test the Air Conditioner

Finally, you should plan on testing the air conditioner after the installation of the appliance. Setting up the equipment by following the standard guidelines does not always guarantee correct function and performance. Therefore, it is essential to confirm by measuring the flow of air from the system. Additionally, you should plan on inspecting the air conditioning system for potential safety hazards.

Installing a new residential air conditioner is complicated and time-consuming. Therefore, consult a qualified and experienced HVAC contractor for the setup of your appliance. Reach out to one for aircon installation
