About Me

My HVAC Hobby

Hello, my name is Nigel and I live in New South Wales with my partner and our three kids. I am really interested in HVAC systems. It isn't my job or anything, I just got interested in it. My friends often poke fun at me because of my unusual hobby but I don't mind. It all started when I visited my friend who is an HVAC contractor. He was working on a unit and he started to explain how the different components worked together. I was fascinated and when I got home, I took the cover off my HVAC system and cleaned it out. Since then, I have started to maintain and repair HVAC systems for friends if they can't get hold of a professional. I decided to start this blog to help others.

Why Is a Reverse Cycle Air Conditioning System the Most Versatile Option?

When people think about air conditioning, they normally envision a machine that helps to keep them cool on a hot summer's day. Yet the ultimate device will condition the air according to the ambient temperature and be equally effective in the winter months. So, if you live in a part of the country that is certainly prone to a cold snap, why should you think about fitting a reverse cycle air conditioning system to your property — and how does it work?

Versatile System

A reverse cycle system is one of the most cost-effective ways to keep your family cool, no matter what's happening outside. Certainly, you can use an independent heating system alongside a traditional A/C, but the reverse cycle system works on an entirely different principle.

How a Reverse Cycle System Works

Rather than generating energy through the use of electricity or gas, a reverse cycle air conditioning system will transform the outside air using a refrigerant. It can either cool or heat the air according to the setting before it's pumped inside the building.

Crucially, these units will also filter and dehumidify the air and can work in various external temperatures. In fact, it can pull in frigid air from outside and still do a good job of warming your living area. To do this, it uses quite a complicated procedure involving the compressor, condenser, and evaporator.

Heat or Cool

The beauty of a reverse cycle system is that at the flick of a switch, you can turn over to cooling mode instead. In this case, the system will absorb the heat from inside the home and pump it outside.

Install a Ducted System

Many people in your situation will choose a system that relies on ducts, which connect the central processor to each zone in your home. In this case, the air would be pumped through the ducting and out through vents that are typically placed in the ceiling or high up on the walls in each room. You can then match this with a smart thermometer and management system to achieve the ideal temperature, no matter what.

Take the Next Step

If you're looking for real energy efficiency and have an eye on the environment as well, choose a reverse-cycle air conditioning system. It's very adaptable. To get the ball rolling, talk to an installation expert for further advice. They'll have a look at your property and determine the correct size of system for your space.
